Review :
Out of Date, not worth $5!
This book is out of date. I am an instructor for a well-known Business School that forced the use of this book. It is copyright 2011 but references statistics from 1999 that forecast 2010 expectations. I have been in the health care IT industry for over 27 years and have seen what this book discusses come and go! I correct at least 5 slides for every chapter to bring the material up to date. The book does not cover what is important in the real world of HIT. The author devotes less than a page to major topics and goes on and on topics that are no longer relevant. It may be a good history book for the "Medical Records" department, but as for a text book for college students that want to be up to date in the field upon graduation, it does not even deserve the star I gave it.

Health IT Program
For the students who are doing the Health IT program at UT. I will be honest and say I didn't read a single page out of this book and you DO NOT need it for the program. Save some money!

Intro to computers
This book is horrible. If you are under the age of 20, skip buying this alltogether and just borrow a friends in class. It's just a bunch of common sense stuff about how computers work with a small amount about health care.
