Short Description (2,000 characters, including spaces) Dr. Jerry Cook spent fifty years as a pastor, teaching and writing about the presence of the Holy Spirit and of Christ in everyday life—including speaking in tongues. But in a conversation with a young pastor he realized the need to explain this topic in a practical, accessible way for those who may have only been exposed to it through “shocking” manifestations of fanaticism. In this conversation, the young pastor wondered what the “big deal” was, and when Cook got over his anger at this dismissive assessment, he tackled the concept head-on. Cook first asserts that "It is possible to be a sane, intellectually honest, biblical, and dynamic Christian who is filled with the Holy Spirit, speaks in tongues, and effectually ministers the full life of Christ." He does not shy away from his own doubts and struggles in the church and his personal faith, striving not to create an academic, theoretical work but to ask the right questions and provide genuine, compassionate advice. Here, find practical, Biblical answers to the questions of the young pastor and of other Christians who have struggled with this concept. Examine six significant events, from the in-breaking of God through the birth, death, resurrection, and ascension of Jesus, ending with the day of Pentecost. Follow the radical relocation of God from "out there" to "with us" to "in us," and visualize the remarkable implications of this radical move to the Christian's everyday life. Examine the church and the manifestation of Christ in its structure, power, and gathering. Do not wonder what Jesus would do, but ask the radical question of who he would be. What does a practical, post-modern Spirit-filled Christian look like? How is Jesus made visible in everyday living, and why is it important? Who is the church, really? In accessible terms, Cook explains that we are not just to do what Jesus would do, but rather to be who Jesus would be. In this way, we can bring visibility to His presence and access to His life and hope.

Review :
Pastor Jerry just thinks better...
The best book on effective church living is "Love, Acceptance, Forgiveness."
The best book about the incarnational church is "Monday Morning Church."
It is no surprise that Pastor Jerry would write a book about the Holy Spirit that would be equally as powerful.
Jerry lays down a strong theological argument about the Holy Spirit throughout the whole Bible. The theology is dead on orthodox while still challenging the status quo of our dying American Church.
Couldn't recommend higher.

Jerry Cooks Book
Very well written . A book all should read in these troubled times. God gave us the gift of the Holy Spirit and too many of us deny him or set him aside. This book leads you to a better understanding of what the bible says about the Holy Spirit and how we need him,

The Holy Spirit - So What's The Big Deal?
Jerry Cook has been forming and informing my theology of the Church and Pentecost for over 30 years. Jerry has given Pentecostals permission to think and has laid some of the initial groundwork for historic Pentecostals to explore a Spirit-infused life in all areas of our creation - mind, body and soul. As I began reading Jerry's book, I found myself underlining those unique one line quotes that Jerry has been known for throughout the years. These single concepts themselves could become individual books. For me, the purchase of this book would be worth the cost if it only contained chapter 10, The Equipping of the Church - brilliant stuff.

This specific item Offer exceeded the prospect, this has developed into a wonderfull upgrade on myself, The theory showed up properly as well as swiftly Help! I'm Holy, But I'm Horny

There is something about the word "horny" that makes people blush instantly, especially church people. But let's face it, we live in a world where sex is more accessible than education-where internet porn, sexting, strip clubs and dating apps allow spouses to secretly cheat on one other. How are we supposed to survive until Christ's return unscathed by all of these entanglements? This book is for every highschooler that has to sit through sex-ed and hear about the physical ramifications of having unprotected sex, but is never made aware of the spiritual ramifications.  This book is for every single that loves Jesus, but yearns for the company of the opposite sex and is finding it hard (literally and figuratively) to keep sane in a world that promotes sexuality at every turn.  This book is for every married couple that experienced sex prior to their wedding day and occasionally have thoughts, make comparisons, and/or has fantasies about someone other than their spouse. This book is for every divorcee whose body was used to being intimate with their ex on a regular basis and is now frustrated as to what to do now that that person is no longer in the picture. This book is for every woman that doesn't understand why sex is so high on the list of needs for men. This book is for every man that doesn't understand why sex isn't ranked higher on the list of needs for women. Help! was written to give you just that-help. With biblical principles and personal examples, Dr. Scruggs outlines ways in which we can navigate through the ups and downs of sex, love and relation-slips. Dr. Mike Scruggs (D. Min., United Theological Seminary) is the Founder and Senior Pastor of Light of the World Ministries (affectionately known as the "Light" House) in Cincinnati, Ohio. He is a respected spiritual leader, social reformer, and lover of his city. He is honored to be married to his wife Kisha and father to their two children.

Review :
Exceptional Read
I had first heard about this book online. I saw the title and I can't lie, I laughed...hard. It's an attention getting title and it's one that made me think. The church doesn't talk about issues as it pertains to sex, unless it's homosexuality. No one talks about issues that sex may bring.

I decided to get the paperback book(forgive me, I must have the actual book in my hands. Digital
Books just don't do the job). Within the first hour and a half of buying the book, I was halfway through it. The book has facts, stats, and information that is beneficial to everyone, male or female, single, married, or divorced.

What I love the most about this book is that everything is referenced back to the Bible. I say this often...as a Christian, everything always points back to the cross. This book illustrates this beautifully. I encourage everyone to buy this book. You will NOT be disappointed

Good book for those who are about to date
Good book for those who are about to date, dating and even married. Helps to understand what God has planned for us, versus what our emotions and feelings want for us.

This book is a MUST READ!
I couldn't put this book down. It is so refreshing to hear a pastor talk about the issues of sex. Dr. Scruggs breaks down the topic so easily and provides reference material. I have suggested this book to all of my friends! If you don't buy and read this book… it is definitely your loss.

This type of subject provides exceeded own anticipation, that one has become a great replace on myself personally, The concept arrived safely as well as rapidly Sweetening the Pill: or How We Got Hooked on Hormonal Birth Control

Millions of healthy women take a powerful medication every day from their mid-teens to menopause - the Pill - but few know how this drug works or the potential side effects. Contrary to cultural myth, the birth-control pill impacts on every organ and function of the body, and yet most women do not even think of it as a drug.

Depression, anxiety, paranoia, rage, panic attacks - just a few of the effects of the Pill on half of the over 80% of women who pop these tablets during their lifetimes.

When the Pill was released, it was thought that women would not submit to taking a medication each day when they were not sick. Now the Pill is making women sick.

However, there are a growing number of women looking for non-hormonal alternatives for preventing pregnancy. In a bid to spark the backlash against hormonal contraceptives, this book asks: Why can't we criticize the Pill?

Review :
Postponing Motherhood... at What Cost?
Back when my husband was in medical school, his pharmacology textbook listed seven full pages of adverse side effects associated with oral contraceptive use, including:

- heart attacks
- strokes
- liver tumors
- blood clots
- gall bladder disease
- migraine headaches
- depression
- loss of vision
- urinary tract infections
- yeast infections
- weight gain
- thyroid problems
- high blood sugar

…as well as an increased risk of infertility, miscarriage, and birth defects even after discontinuing use of the Pill.

That was enough to convince us we’d made the right decision when, as newlyweds, we opted to forgo hormonal contraceptives three years (and two babies) earlier.

Yet when we shared this information with family and friends, they remained skeptical. “If the Pill were really that unsafe,” they reasoned, “then doctors wouldn’t prescribe...
Exceptional, Provoking, Questioning
I found this to be an exceptional book, and I take the Pill. This was not an easy state to arrive at, with my reluctance to depend on a powerful medication and full knowledge of how the medication worked- by suppressing the normal ebb and flow of pituitary hormones that trigger the 28-day cycle. I had come across Ms. Griggs-Spall's blog some years ago when I was having challenges with the Pill, in particular Yasmin. I questioned its impact on my health and emotional state, as did Ms. Griggs-Spall. I, too, had difficulty going off the medication, and after a significant break returned to the medication informed, wiser as to what it does and doesn't do to for my situation. In my case the benefits far outweigh the negatives, but I had to come to that choice deliberately, with full information and weighing both costs and benefits.

This book is a thoughtfully wrought and powerful manifesto directed at the forces that control our world and how they impact women- including...
Why can't we TALK about the Pill?
In the first ten pages, Holly Grigg-Spall delivers an impassioned description of The Problem, told from personal experience: While Taking Yaz/Yasmin, she thought she was losing her mind. Her sanity, her work as a writer, and, she thought, everything she held dear was collapsing,

In delving into the problem with a trusted girlfriend, a doctor who did not dismiss her concerns, groundbreaking books, her then-boyfriend now-husband, and women that had taken to the Internet to air their personal stories, Ms. Grigg-Spall realized that Yaz was wreaking havoc with her body and mind--and yet, even after stopping it for good, the allure of the Pill beckoned.

To be blunt, Ms. Grigg-Spall has plenty of attitude, wit, and insight and spares no one in the birth control debate--population control advocates, capitalism, our warped commercialized view of sexuality, the patriarchy, pharmaceutical companies, the religious right, the Pill evangelical feminists on the Left who silence...
