This book is fantastic. It has a lots of medical terms that have the phonetical trasncription in paranthesis. Not to mention that after every word the author divides it into parts and explain to you EVERY TIME what the segments mean. And the CD at the backis awsome. I recommend for people buying it used to make sure with the seller that the book will have the cd. It has audio dictionary, interactive games, matching games, labeling images etc. I mean, really, it is the best. A bit pricey, but it's worth it.

This is a review of the product itself. The graphics and descriptions of the medical terms are helpful in grasping the concepts. Unfortunately, the text has quite a few errors and some referenced figures are missing/incorrectly labeled.

Here are some examples:

"A chalazion (kah-LAY-zee-on), also known as an internal stye, is a localized swelling inside the eyelid resulting from obstruction a sebaceous gland."

Errors in Kindle edition

I recently rented this as a text ebook. Spelling is an important part for this course as changing a letter here and there can mean a whole different word. The very FIRST vocabulary word in the first chapter was misspelled. Later on in the first chapter, another vocabulary word was misspelled. I checked with someone who has the print edition of the book, and those words were not misspelled in the print edition. Either Amazon is doing no quality control on their ebook conversion or there are errors in the Kindle app that are rendering the wrong letters. I am still in the beginning of this course and haven't ventured past the first chapter, but based on my experience so far, this won't be the last error I see.

Very well written and practical approach to preventing problems and resolving ethical dilemmas that may arise. Excellent constructive help for dealing with ethical challenges posed by new case law, electronic records, social media and complex work settings. This 4th edition has more than 700 case studies that provide excellent and insightful real world examples. This landmark book is my "go to" reference to expand my ethical awareness and serves as a guidepost for making better decisions. Well worth the cost!

Review :
Great book

I had to use this textbook for my pathophysiology class in nursing school. It is by far one of the most useful textbooks I have, and I will not be selling it back. Even through paramedic school, my paramedic textbook was lacking some basic explanations on the patho of diseases and injuries and this book really filled in the gaps. I only wish I had it 3 years ago in paramedic classes. It uses simple explanations, pictures, and has a great website to accompany it. I would recommend this book to anyone looking for a background in pathophysiology, regardless of their field.

Very thorough

This book is very thorough. I use it for my clinical paperwork for nursing school and it's quite easy to use. Recommended for nursing students.

Not helpful to me
For me, the Gould textbook is unnecessarily difficult to use. I am surprised that so many people like it. It is on the whole too simplified, so you are usually stymied when you want the real physiological account of a pathology. The Glossary is incomplete (it is only 8 pages of large type) and the explanatrions are dumbed down so much they confuse me even more. When I look up a difficult term, half the time there's no entry at all. The illustrations often contain far more detail than is explained in the text, and are sometimes very confusing and misleading. For example, the discussion of changes in blood gas with respiratory acidosis sounds as though there is always more H2CO3 produced in acidosis -- this is just wrong, and the illustration contradicts itself, too. (It says "Kidneys increase serum bicarbonate" but the sample numbers show a decrease!) The text is also often unclear. For example, the distinction between Hodgkin's disease and non-Hodgkin's lymphoma is very poorly...

Having been in the medical field for over 20 years, Stedman's has always been my favorite; comprehensive and complete, yet easy enough to understand for those of us who work the administrative end. This newest version is better than ever: tabs and lots of pictures.

Just remember though...this is a FULL, DESKTOP version and not one to carry around in your backpack. It is perfect for the certified coder (or becoming one), the transcriptionist, the medical assistant, or the practice administrator.

Great Dictionary!

The Text was everything and more than I expected. It has been very helpful when completing assignments. There are also several anatomical depictions that are very helpful as well.

Great book for medical coding

I am working towards a Medical Assistant degree and found this book to be helpful. I can look up prefixes for medical words and this book has pictures too that help with understanding. It is easy to follow and easy to read. It also has a bonus CD rom and a free 1 year subscription to Stedman's Online. Glad I bought it!

It is a textbook so can't say I love it. But it is well written and easy to understand.

Great Book

This book is very easy to follow and understand. It's is very understandable and contains a lot of information that you can easily retain. Great book for beginners.

Excellent for beginners or as a refresher!

I have had previous pharmacology classes so I have read many pharm books. This book is so easy to read and understand. My memory needed refreshed in many areas an this book has made that so easy. I am over halfway through the book in class and this book has not disappointed me yet. I also like the case studies.
