When I was first asked to review this book, I made a wrong assumption. I assumed that this book was about raising a child in a religious environment. I teach preschool in a Christian school and thought that this was another book instructing how to teach a child to love God and study his word. I've read a ton of those, and yes, I enjoy them. But The Spiritual Child: The New Science on Parenting for Health and Lifelong Learning is not about religion. This book is about the spirit of the child, nuturing that inner spirit and documenting it's effect on a child's health and general well being.

I absolutley loved this book. It is about buidling a spiritual bond with your child. I have a 12 year old and I could easily apply it's principles to my relaionship with her. And I could also apply it's teaching to my preschool classroom. This book should be recommended reading for all parents and teachers. NOT the same old stuff

This is a GREAT book that is NOT something you've read elsewhere. As a matter of fact, I have not seen the fantastic insights in Sacred Sex ANYWHERE else, and I've read plenty of books on the subject. If someone actually took the time to read the book in its entirety, they would find that the focus of Dr. Gardner's argument is that for true Oneness to occur inside the bedroom, it MUST occur outside the bedroom first. Even more, they must understand the depth of the spiritual oneness in the act of making love that God built into the system. It's new. It's right. Read it. Apply it. It will change your marriage.

A must read for couples

I really wish this book had been around when I first got married. I think this book would be fabulous for couples in premarital counseling, but it is also very good for couples well into their married lives. A refreshing new look at sex from a God-centered, very Biblical view of why God gave us sex in the first place. Looking at sex as an act of holy worship to the Creator has completely changed my view of intimacy. I very highly recommend this book! Thanks Dr. Gardner for answering the call to write about something so desparately misunderstood today!

Excellent Resource to Set Husbands and Wives Straight!

There is a lot of confusion in Christian marriages today about sex. Most Christians resources don't give enough attention to this most physical aspect of marriage, and society has twisted it into anything but pure. Gardner brings husbands and wives back to a Biblical standard, asserting that sex in marriage is not only special, it is sacred.
If you feel the term "sacred sex" is a contradiction, then you need to read this book. This title is well worth the price for Christian husbands and wives.

Down-to-earth convergence of the scientific and the spiritual
I always have my eye out for authors who are interested in bringing together the scientific and the spiritual. If we assume (as I do) that there is reality to the existence of spiritual realms, beings, and principles, and that there is validity to the process of scientific inquiry, then it's obvious that the two must eventually meet. And this is in spite of the mistrust and downright animosity that partisans on both sides of this divide often show toward each other.

This book is a very welcome step toward the integration of these two perspectives on "reality." It is not a lofty philosophical treatise, but rather a down-to-earth book that couples an engaging travelogue (about a trip to heaven!) with a very practical set of tips for improving readers' spiritual, emotional, and physical lives

To say this book is amazing would be an understatement.. Tommy has literally spelled out, in black and white, so simply yet eloquently, the most powerful truths that he brought back from heaven. As I finished reading this book, and closed the cover, I could not stop crying. I wasn't crying because I was sad, I was crying from a sense of elation. Finally, there it was in writing, you can 'DO THIS RIGHT" and make the world a better place to live in.
