Review :
Better than the first.
I would not recommend buying this book by itself. You should really consider getting the first either before, or along side this one. This edition has several more tastefully shown methods of rope play. Several of which refer back to the previous book for the beginning knots of the segments shown. So, previous knots shown aren't fully recapped in this edition, but are still used in many of the techniques. So, again, make sure you include the first one to your collection as to avoid confusion and to maximize the fun.
Very good, but could be better
A very nice follow-up to the first Knotty Boys book, full of interesting and useful ties that ought to be plenty of fun to explore. However, there are a few small problems with the book that prevent me from giving it a five star rating.
First of all despite the product description above, which suggests you can lay the book flat while working out of it, it doesn't have a lay-flat binding. Seeing as how both of your hands are going to be busy tying the knots, some kind of weight or clip is needed to ensure the book doesn't close on you as you work.
Next, the pictures that illustrate the steps of each knot are smaller than they should be (just 1.5 inches square), which makes it hard to see what's going on in some of the steps. I would have been happier with larger pictures, even if the resulting increase in the number of pages would have meant a somewhat higher price.
And finally, there are more decorative ties in the book than I would have liked, but...
A must have
I bought the first book that the Knotty Boys put out and was satisfied with that, but this book is even better than the first. More ties, easy to read instructions and great pictures. If you are just starting out or have been practicing for a while, this is definitely something to pick up.
